During the building of this school founder of Barisal Govt Brojmohon Collage late Brojmohon Dutt (first powerful Mufence of Patuakhali Mohakumar Magistrate) father of late Awshini Kumer Dutt, Nobin Chandra Shen father of Congress leader Shotindronath Shen, Umesh Chandra Dash father of leader Hiralal Dashgupta who is the former owner of the present building of Shonali Bank, local lawyer, Barrister and many other people played very important role. After their hard work in 1876 Akhwy Kumar De’s had given a place where they built a hut and first started the school named ‘Patuakhali Entrance School’ under the supervision of Magistrate Rosh Ranjan Pal as the Head Master of the school near present district post office.
Present school hostel and play ground had been used for cultivation. In 1887 former SDO Mr. Foez Uddin Hossain take lease this place for the school and he build an eight room one stored building with the help of government and money of local people. In 1887 on the day of Moharani Victoria’ Golden jubilee festival they shifted their school in that building from their old hut. On that day they named the school as ‘Patuakhali High English School’ as the part of their school memorandum...............
